What does the chamber do?
We serve as advocates for the business community by speaking in a united voice, we provide programs that inform and help members develop skills and business relationships, and we provide benefits that allow members to save money.
Does my company have to be in Solon to join?
No.
Most of my clients are outside Solon, why should I join the Chamber?
The Chamber offers a wide variety of training, education and career development programs that help you build your staff. We work to foster a better business climate by serving as advocates on your behalf. Chamber membership is a way of showing that you are a good corporate citizen.
I don’t have time to become involved in Chamber activities. Does that decrease the value of my membership?
Not at all. As a matter of fact, only about 20% of all members participate actively in volunteer positions with the Chamber. Your membership is designed to give you a tremendous return on your investment even if you don’t have time to get heavily involved. If you do have the time, you can certainly reap extra benefits.
Does everyone in my company have to join the chamber separately?
No, when your company joins, every employee automatically becomes a member and is entitled to participate in all Chamber activities.
What is the age limit for Solon Young Professionals events?
Anyone between 21 and 40 is welcome to participate.
Can men attend Solon Women in Business events?
Yes!
Why do I have to be a member to get Health Insurance and other benefits?
It’s a benefit of your membership investment. Your membership in the Solon Chamber qualifies you for a discounted rate over what non-members would receive.
What’s the best way to get new business through my chamber membership?
Get to know other members! Bottom line, you get out of your Chamber membership what you are willing to put into it. Don’t attend events with selling your product as your first priority. People tend to do business with those they know, like and trust, so take the time to build a relationship first.
How many members does the chamber have?
Our current average is 550.
Is the chamber part of the city of Solon?
No, the chamber is a private corporation. It does, however, work closely with the city on a number of business-related initiatives.
Does the chamber make political endorsements?
No. The Chamber limits itself to providing information on candidates and issues.
Does the chamber issue certificates of origin and what is the cost?
Yes, we issue certificates of origin. They are free to chamber members.
